A really quick update ....
In my last post, I mentioned that local government often moves at a glacial pace, but occasionally something comes along like a lightning bolt, that demands immediate attention.
That's exactly the situation with the Provincial Government's new Development Charge Reduction Program (DCRP).
The DCRP is a joint federal-provincial funding program aimed at making housing more affordable and accelerating new home construction in Ontario.
Launched on June 1, the program gives municipalities until June 19 to apply if they wish to participate, leaving very little time to review and decide.
The program appeared on our June 11 agenda, and given that new information is still emerging daily, Council has called a Special Meeting on June 16 to continue discussions before the deadline.

Education and Training Session
Council will be visiting several community centres to gain a better understanding of what facilities and services are achievable, and what they cost to deliver. These visits will help inform future planning and possible inclusion in the program above.
The meeting is held for the purpose of educating or training the members; with respect to a facilities tour of the King-Zancor Centre, Innisfil Recreation Centre, and Wasaga Stars Arena & Library.
