Hi,

One of the true highlights of my role as Councillor is the privilege of spending time at the Welcome Booth at the Erin Fall Fair. There’s nothing like seeing old friends, meeting new neighbours, greeting visitors who are discovering Erin for the first time, and feeling the warmth of community spirit. Heartfelt thanks to the amazing volunteers who pour their hearts into making this fair such a cherished community tradition!

A heads up! Please be advised that there will be filming in Downtown Erin Village on Saturday, Oct. 18 for a Kraft Hockeyville commercial. Main Street will remain open throughout the course of the video shoot. Town staff are working with organizers to allow for filming along Main Street from Charles Lane to Church Boulevard, which will be managed by flaggers and signage. Please be mindful of posted signage and personnel directing traffic while driving through the area throughout the day.

Now for a quick round-up of What Happened at Council and a reminder about some important dates coming up.

What happened at Council on October 9, 2025

A few highlights ....

Waste Water Update

Excellent summary of the project

Watch the video here starting at 11:25

A draft of the Sanitary Sewer Connection By-law is expected in March 2026. This by-law will outline rules and regulations for connecting to the sanitary sewer system. It will include the application process, fees, mandatory or optional nature of connections, construction standards and discharge requirements. It will also include decommissioning requirements for existing septic systems when a connection is made. The process will include several public engagement/education sessions.

Ballantry (Blackthorn/Beachcroft)

The conditions for Draft Plan Approval were approved.

Projected to start construction in 2027.

I was encouraged to see real progress being made toward providing a wider variety of housing options. The plans include a Seniors Enclave - 188 units of mixed-use seniors and 72 units of low-rise seniors. Ballantry is committed to advancing the Seniors Enclave in the early phases of building.

Hillsburgh Gravel Pit - Site Alteration Permit

Application for a permit to restore a former sand and gravel pit up to its original grade to ultimately be used for agricultural purposes. Restoration of the site is expected to take approx. 10 to 15 years to complete = 150 trucks per day, 19 to 31 trucks per hour.

Council referred this report back to staff to include the consideration and impact on the TMP - Transportation Master Plan report. The TMP report is expected to come to Council in mid-to-late November.
