Happy New Year and welcome to my first Round-up of 2026.
Below are some of the priority projects I’m most excited to move forward during the remaining nine months of this term of Council.
Strategic Plan
Continue the execution of the Strategic Plan
Infrastructure
Waste Water Treatment Plant – Plant completion: End of February 2026, Cooling system completion: Spring 2026
Upgrades in Erin Village – design work is proceeding for water, wastewater, road and active transportation system updates in Erin Village
Sewer Connection By-law - outlines the rules and regulations for connecting to the sanitary sewer system. It will include the application process, fees, mandatory or optional nature of connections, construction standards and discharge requirements. It will also include decommissioning requirements for existing septic systems when a connection is made. The process will include 4 to 5 public engagement/education sessions.
Elora Cataract Trail opening - Main St. to Sdrd 17 complete April 2026, Sdrd 17 to Trafalgar complete end of 2026
Water System Projects - improving water supply reliability and quality
IT Upgrades – continue to upgrade our Information Technology systems to keep our information safe and secure·
Communication
Website – new website launching July 2026
Discover Erin magazine - continue publishing seasonal magazines
DiscoverErin.ca - enhancements to this website
Planning
Housing – continue to work with the development community to move the new subdivisions along in the process, while limiting the disruption to established residents
Community Services
Facility Upgrades - Centre 2000 improvements - new elevator and upgrades to the theatre, including new seating, sound and lighting
Recreational Programming - continuation of the introduction of exciting new programs
Community Events - including the Shamrock Awards - Save the Date - April 22, 2026
Community Grant Applications - The Town of Erin is now accepting applications for the Community Grants program. Charities, youth groups, and organizations operating on a not-for-profit basis are eligible for up to $3,000 in grant funding for capital, operational or specific projects that support community wellbeing.
Economic Development
Economic Development Plan – continue the execution of this plan
Visitor Growth Plan - coming soon
Investment Attraction - welcoming new businesses to serve our community and increase our commercial tax base
